On the hydrodynamic responses of a multi-column TLP floating offshore wind turbine model

The offshore floating wind turbine system is a key piece of equipment for harvesting energy from the ocean field. However, structural safety analysis and design such largely require suitable platform to accurately obtain dynamic characteristics. In present study, an attempt was made investigate responses proposed 5-MW WindStar multi-column tension-leg-platform (TLP) under different environment conditions. Typical motion system, including surge pitch, series measurements obtained wave basin tests, as nacelle acceleration tendon tension, were compared with those simulated results FAST code four hydrodynamic load Additionally, second-order incorporated first-order load, so allow accurate evaluation high-frequency response (FOWT). Further, effect high-order loads on TLP FOWT elucidated. frequency found be significant factor in determining agree well experiment. coupled method experiments numerical can effectively used understand systems, TLP.
